Tutors for all levels

With entrance exams becoming more and more competitive with every passing year, I have been asked over and over for a list of tutors for exams at varying levels from 7+ to 13+ . This is a short list I compiled to make it easier for parents. These tutor agencies come recommended by parents and organisations affiliated to education alike so I am hoping that they are the best out there.

Unfortunately I cannot make personal recommendations as I have not used a tutor as yet. However I hope this helps those looking for a tutor.

I would be very grateful for feedback on any of the agencies below so do feel free to comment, if any parents out there have used them and have been pleased or even if you have not been that happy. If anyone knows and can recommend any others agencies or individuals out there, please do feel to let us know so we can add them to the list.

Thank you everyone. Good luck!

I’d like to recommend Karen Cowan.
She is an assessor as well as a tutor. Although she is based in Shenley, she has clients who travel a distance to her because of her experience and specialisms: 4+, 5+, 7+ and 11+ academic exams -as well as dyslexia assessor and tutor (PATOSS SpLD Level 7). She has a clear DBS.

    Her number is 07961 352127

Must add Tavistock Tutors to your list. They have excellent quality tutors and a very user friendly website. It is very important that the tutor is a good fit for the child. I have found my older kids want to be part of the process of choosing who they work well with and the site has short intro video clips of each tutor

I cannot recommend Lionheart Education enough. We have used them for 3 of my boys over the past 20 years from prep school through to University. They were particularly good to my eldest, who was offered a scholarship at Winchester with their help. Their experience and advice has been as valuable as the tuition – the tutors have all been excellent.

  5. I have a good friend at a prep school who uses this excellent tutor for her 2 boys. She is based in central London and specialises in entries at 7+, 8+, 11+ and 13+ to all the top academic schools. Very rigorous pace for the student and lots of support for the parents if this is what you’re looking for.

“Kings Tutors” is another fantastic (and very reliable!) tutoring agency – they are based in Edinburgh and London. Their website is http://www.kingstutors.co.uk
