SUMMARY:11+ Workshops: October Week 2
DESCRIPTION:Preparing for the 11+ is about far more than simply covering the syllabus. \nThe most successful candidates are not necessarily those who have completed the greatest number of papers or spent the longest hours studying. More often\, they are the children who have developed secure subject knowledge\, strong exam technique and the confidence to tackle unfamiliar questions with a calm and methodical approach. \nThe school holidays provide a valuable opportunity to achieve exactly that. \nWithout the demands of homework\, school commitments and busy weekly routines\, children have the time to consolidate their learning\, revisit topics that require further attention and strengthen the skills that are essential for success in competitive entrance examinations. \nAt Mumsinthewood Education\, our holiday workshops are carefully planned to make the most of this time. \nLed by experienced teachers with extensive knowledge of academically selective independent school admissions\, the programme is designed to prepare children thoroughly for every aspect of the 11+ process. English\, Mathematics and Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning are taught in depth\, with lessons structured to develop both understanding and confidence. \nOur teaching goes beyond simply revising topics. \nChildren are introduced to a wide variety of question styles and assessment formats\, ensuring they become familiar with the breadth and unpredictability of competitive entrance examinations. We believe that thorough preparation means leaving nothing to chance\, so every element of the admissions process is covered carefully and comprehensively. \nMock examinations form a key part of the programme. \nConducted under realistic examination conditions\, they allow children to develop effective time management\, improve concentration and gain experience of working independently under pressure. Our papers are written and marked by experienced teachers and are designed to reflect the style\, standard and level of challenge of leading independent schools as closely as possible\, whilst also preparing children for less familiar question types that may appear. \nInterview preparation is approached in the same way. \nRather than encouraging children to memorise responses\, we help them develop the confidence to communicate their ideas clearly\, think independently and respond naturally to a wide range of questions and discussion topics. Strong interviews are built on genuine confidence and thoughtful conversation\, not rehearsed answers. \nEach child also receives detailed homework and consolidation materials to reinforce learning between sessions. These provide valuable opportunities to revisit new concepts\, strengthen understanding and continue making progress throughout the holidays. \nOne of the aspects of our workshops that parents value most is the detailed individual feedback provided at the end of the course. \nEvery family receives a comprehensive written report outlining their child’s academic performance\, learning profile\, strengths and areas for development. The report also provides an indication of how the child’s performance compares with others in the cohort\, together with practical recommendations to guide future preparation. Our aim is to provide parents with a clear understanding of where their child is now and the most effective route forward. \nWe believe that meaningful preparation should never be generic. \nEvery child has different strengths\, learns in different ways and progresses at their own pace. Our role is to identify those individual needs\, provide honest and constructive guidance\, and ensure that every child leaves feeling more confident\, more capable and better prepared than when they arrived. \nOver the years\, our workshops have helped many children secure places at some of the country’s leading independent schools. We are equally proud of the number of families who return with younger siblings and recommend our programmes to friends and colleagues. \nAbove all\, our aim is simple: to ensure that every child approaches the 11+ assessments with confidence\, resilience and the knowledge that they have been thoroughly prepared for every stage of the admissions process. \nOctober 11+ Revision Workshop\nOur October Revision Workshop is designed for children preparing for 11+ examinations during the Michaelmas and Lent terms. \nThe course includes: \n\nComprehensive English revision\nMathematics revision\nVerbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning\nRealistic mock examinations\nInterview preparation\nHomework and consolidation packs\nIndividual feedback and a detailed written report\n\nEvery element of the programme has been carefully planned to ensure that children develop not only the academic knowledge required for success\, but also the confidence\, resilience and examination skills that enable them to perform at their very best. \nOctober 28th – Revision 11+\n10.30 a.m. – 12.30 – English\n12.30 – 13.00 – Lunch\n13.00 – 13.30 – Reasoning – Verbal\n13.30– 15.30 – Maths\n15.30 – 15.45 – Break\n15.45 – 16.15 – Reasoning  – Non-verbal \nOctober 29th – Revision 11+\n10.30 a.m. – 12.30 – English\n12.30 – 13.00 – Lunch\n13.00 – 13.30 – Reasoning – Verbal\n13.30– 15.30 – Maths\n15.30 – 15.45 – Break\n15.45 – 16.15 – Reasoning  – Non-verbal \nOctober 30th – Mock Exam\n10.15 a.m. Registration\n10.30 – 11.30   – Maths Exam\n11.30 – 11.45 – Break\n11.45 – 12.45  – Reasoning Exam\n12.45 – 13.15 – Lunch\n13.15 – 14.15 – English Exam
