4+ and 5+ Mock Assessments 2020

Mums In the Wood will be running  the group mock assessment workshops for 2020 at a private residence for children going in for their 4+  and 5+ assessments over the next few months. All assessments will as in the past, be accompanied by a comprehensive report for each child which will be sent out shortly after the assessments.

We have had many requests this year for assessing children at home. Unfortunately, we do not feel that assessing children in their own surroundings achieves the objective of a mock assessment for 4+ and 5+. The aim of these mock assessments is as follows:

We hope to provide the children with an opportunity

  • to practice separating successfully from parents,
  • to interact with other children whom they haven’t met before,
  • to remain in an unfamiliar environment with adults they have not met before and
  • to be able to demonstrate what they know in an unfamiliar setting without being too overwhelmed.

We hope to  be able to assess children’s cognitive abilities, emotional and social maturity and academic potential.

We  will be structuring their time with us in a manner similar to how group assessments are run in schools and providing detailed reports to parents on our observations along with our suggestions and recommendations.

Please register via the links below if you would like to attend.

Please note also that we will only be allocating 3 places as a maximum per time slot, per day to ensure not only that we can provide comprehensive feedback in our reports but also so that we are able to provide adequate social distancing measures and adhere to our safeguarding policies (detailed below) as per government guidelines. There will be additional questions emailed to parents who wish to have a mock assessment this year.

All assessments will be taking place at a private residence NOT business premises.

The children will be offered a small treat at the end so please advise us of any allergies or preferences when booking.

We will schedule more workshops over the coming months if there is enough interest. So please email us if the sessions are full but you would like to be waitlisted/put on a list for a future session.

The assessments will be open to both girls and boys.

Please note that the sessions listed below will be group sessions. If you would like to book an individual assessment, please contact me via email on [email protected]

Safeguarding policy

We are continuing to monitor the government guidelines and will conduct our mock assessments this year in accordance with government regulations. There will be cones placed outside where parents would be asked to wait to both drop off and pick up their children. Hand sanitiser will be provided on site, however, parents are encouraged to use their own sanitiser on their children’s hands before drop off.  If any child or any member of the household has been out of the UK, please declare that on email.  If your child or anyone in the household has been unwell, please declare that on email. There will be a reduced number of children per session this year for social distancing purposes, however, we will include more sessions to accommodate everyone. We appreciate your patience in making the sessions a success under these challenging circumstances.
