Every family approaches education differently. For some, the process begins before a child is even born; for others, it comes at a point of transition – a move within the UK, a relocation from overseas, or the need to navigate an unfamiliar education system. Whatever the circumstance, the decisions involved are often significant, and having the right guidance at the right time can make an enormous difference.
At Mums in the Wood Education, we support families from as early as 18 months through to senior school and sixth form entry. Our work spans school placement, assessment preparation and longer-term educational planning, always shaped around the individual child and the priorities of the family.
Some families come to us while considering nursery (we start at 18 months) and pre-prep options. Others are preparing for competitive 7+, 11+, 13+ or 16+ entry, planning scholarship routes, or seeking advice on boarding and international pathways. We also work closely with families relocating to the UK from abroad, helping them understand the British education system and identify schools that are not only academically suitable, but personally and culturally the right fit for their child.

Our role is not simply to recommend schools, but to help families make well-informed decisions with confidence and clarity.
Alongside consultancy, we provide a range of assessment and preparation services designed to give parents a clearer understanding of their child’s strengths, potential and areas for development. These include mock assessments, progress assessments, exam preparation and interview preparation, all delivered in a calm and supportive environment.
What matters most to us is the experience children have while they learn. Preparation should never feel relentless or impersonal. Children make the strongest progress when they feel secure, engaged and confident in what they are doing, which is why our approach is measured, individual and carefully paced. Programmes are adapted continuously to reflect each child’s personality, learning style and stage of development.
Over the years, many families have returned with younger siblings or recommended us to friends and relatives, creating a close and trusted community of families both within the UK and internationally.
Above all, our aim is simple: to ensure that children are not only well prepared academically, but also confident, settled and genuinely happy in the environments in which they learn.
