Progress Assessments

A progress assessment offers a clear and valuable insight into your child’s academic profile – not only where they are now, but where they are capable of going.

These assessments are developed and scored by an organisation within the Cambridge University family and are typically available only within schools. As one of a small number of accredited providers, we are able to offer families access to the same trusted assessments used by leading prep and secondary schools.

Delivered through an interactive, computer-based format, they evaluate attainment and potential across Maths, English and Reasoning, alongside cognitive ability and overall academic aptitude. The results provide standardised scores and national comparisons, giving a clear picture of how your child is performing in relation to their peers, as well as insight into longer-term academic development.

Importantly, elements of these assessments are also used by some schools within their admissions processes. More widely, the full assessments are used internally by schools to establish academic starting points, track progress over time and identify where additional support or stretch may be needed. They help schools understand a child’s learning profile, inform setting and group placement, and guide teaching approaches. In many schools, this benchmarking continues annually – in some cases through to A Levels – making it a consistent and trusted measure of ability and growth.

Following the assessment, you can choose how you would like to explore the results. A consultation provides the opportunity to talk through the findings in detail, highlighting strengths, identifying areas for development and considering next steps. For those who would like further depth, a comprehensive written report offers a detailed breakdown of performance, learning profile and potential trajectory, along with guidance on future planning and, where appropriate, possible school pathways.

Assessments are divided by age and priced accordingly. Please contact us to book.

Progress Assessments

Rajni was a Godsend. We went to her for advice on 11+ and which schools we should be focussing on and what we need to work on.We did the INCAS assessment and received a personalised report on the outcome and next steps which she created based on the report and her observations on my child. The report was very thorough, comprehensive and provided us with clear outlines of what we should do next.Rajni herself is very sincere and caring. You can clearly see she wants the best for your child and the advice she provides is very personalised to your child's needs.Would definitely recommend her to any parent looking for a cost-effective way to get advice on schools, and advice on identifying and fixing gaps in their child's learning.

I was so glad we came across Mums in the Wood and met Rajni as it was very difficult to find anyone in London who’s heard of the InCAS test! Rajni, an accredited assessor, is an official provider of the InCAS test (an online based assessment required by some schools internationally) and one of the handful of providers in London! She’s organised a mock test for us so that my daughter can get familiar with the test format. Following the test, she produced a written document with thorough feedback, highlighted areas my daughter needs support with and gave further recommendations on how to support her. I highly recommend Mums in the Wood and a special thanks to Rajni!
