Preparation Classes for the 3+ and 4+ Assessments

From the moment they’re born, children are soaking up the world around them—and play is their most powerful tool for learning. Between birth and age five, a child’s brain is buzzing with activity, building connections at a remarkable rate. Whether indoors or out, every moment of play fuels their cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development.
Indoors, little ones thrive through imaginative storytelling, music, art, puzzles, building blocks, and role play—activities that spark creativity, language, and fine motor skills.

Outdoors, the world becomes a sensory wonderland: tiny feet squish in the grass, curious eyes follow dancing leaves, and adventurous minds balance on logs or chase butterflies. It’s learning disguised as pure joy.

Helping Your Child Thrive Through Play
We’re thrilled to announce a new partnership between Mumsinthewood and The Littlest Learners, designed especially for children aged 9 to 36 months. Through thoughtfully structured, play-based sessions, we will support small groups of parents and children in developing the foundational skills needed for the 4+ assessments, while nurturing a lifelong love of learning. It’s the perfect blend of fun, growth, and guided support, all wrapped up in a warm, welcoming environment.
For more information on the sessions, you can visit https://thelittlestlearners.com/preparation.
The sessions will follow the school term with some classes continuing over the holidays as well. The classes will be held in N8 for the little ones and in N6 for the older ones. The first three sessions can be booked individually and then a term’s fee will be charged depending on the age group.

12 to 18 Months (N8)
Through fun, hands-on activities, toddlers build hand-eye coordination, develop early problem-solving abilities, and begin to understand cause and effect—all while playing and discovering.

24 to 30 Months (N8)
Play becomes a gateway to learning as we gently introduce early math concepts, encourage critical thinking, and nurture your child’s natural curiosity through interactive games and puzzles.

Preparing for the 4+ Assessments (N6)
As children approach the 4+ assessments, we will continue to support their learning journey guiding their academic development, with skill-building activities, and mock assessments designed to boost confidence and familiarity with the process while also encouraging an anxiety free separation as they go into an unfamiliar environment and meet new adults and peers.
Please contact us for information on individual and/or group classes.

At every stage, we will create enriching, play-based experiences tailored to your child’s growth and development. Our carefully curated activities are designed to support key milestones while keeping your little one engaged, curious, and happy. Written feedback for the older ones will ensure that caregivers are fully aware of the program and are able to support the children at home. Unlike traditional tutoring, we work together with parents to guide each individual child in the manner best suited for them. We are consistently updating our methods and processes so that both parent and child are fully supported and equipped for their 4+ journey. Our methods and processes have proved incredibly successful over the last 10+ years and it is the level of dedication that we put in that has ensured our excellent results year after year.
We have also developed, in conjunction with primary school teachers from a variety of leading, academic, selective schools across London, a detailed and very well-structured 12 month plan for those sitting the 4+ assessments that year. The plan, in the form of a book can be purchased separately or together with corresponding worksheets collated from across different sources. Please write to us via [email protected] if you would like to know more.
