4+ Mock Assessments 2019

Mums In the Wood will be running the group mock assessment workshops for 2019 at a private residence for children going in for their 4+ assessments over the next few months. These will be run in conjunction with Rajni Jayasekera (Founder of Mums In The Wood) and,

Dr Jemma Levy (an educational and child psychologist).

Dr Jemma Levy is a leading Educational and Child Psychologist who uses a range of comprehensive assessment tools to understand how a child is learning and their unique learning profile. She supports children and young people through the application of psychological theory and research in order to promote their social, emotional and academic success. By understanding a child’s cognitive strengths and any areas of need, a support plan can be produced to ensure every child reaches their full potential.

In addition to progress assessments, Dr Jemma Levy will be joining the assessment team to ensure a comprehensive assessment of your child’s development in relation to school readiness. She will be using measures to explore language development and aspects of cognitive ability. The assessment will also include information on your child’s social and emotional development which are important aspects of school entry assessments.

All assessments will as in the past, be accompanied by a comprehensive report for each child which will be sent out shortly after the assessments.

We hope to provide the children with an opportunity

to practice separating successfully from parents,
to interact with other children whom they haven’t met before and
to remain in an unfamiliar environment with adults they have not met before.

In addition, we will be structuring their time with us in a manner similar to how group assessments are run in schools and providing detailed reports to parents on our observations along with our suggestions and recommendations.

Please note also that we will only be allocating 5 places as a maximum per time slot, per day to ensure that we are able to provide comprehensive feedback in our reports.

All assessments will be taking place at a private residence NOT business premises.

The children will be offered a small break and snack in the middle so please advise us of any allergies or preferences when booking.

We will schedule more workshops over the coming months if there is enough interest. So please email us if the sessions are full but you would like to be waitlisted/put on a list for a future session.

We have changed the format slightly this year to include mixed assessments as over the last few years, most parents have preferred this.

Please also note that Mums In The Wood is not a tutoring consultancy and as such do not accept children to be tutored for these assessments. Mums In The Wood was set up and will remain, a resource that intends to help, assist and guide parents throughout the process and provide parents with the necessary knowledge, framework and resources to help their children with impartiality. We are not affiliated with any particular school, nursery or tutoring agency.

N.B. Places will be only be confirmed upon receipt of payment. Please note that we operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. If you do not give us 48 hours notice, you will not be eligible for a refund. Refunds will NOT be processed if less that 48 hours notice is given. If notice is given prior to the 48 hours, 50% of the full price will be refunded.
