Nottinghill Preparatory school | Co-ed | Non-selective at reception. Selective from Year 1 onwards | The recommended date of obtaining and handing in applications is as soon after the birth of your child as possible even though the cut off date is the year preceding entry.
The registration fee is £50 Younger children who enter Reception have the option of two half days in the Autumn term and one half day in the Spring term. Entry into each class is decided by a ballot system from which siblings are exempt. The ballot takes place usually around 16 months prior to the September entry. The ballot is split for September to February birthdays and March to August birthdays. Year 1 children are assessed in the Spring term for the following September. They will sit the tests and have an interview with the Head or Deputy Head. Parents are informed two weeks after. The school operates a waiting list for unsuccessful applicants. |

Linked to Wetherby. Process is similar to the extent that early registration is key. Forms must be handed in with a registration fee of £150.
Straight from the delivery room is best is the common advice. School is currently trying to dispel this thought process. Advises that it does not make a difference but must be within a few weeks of birth (up to two weeks). Applications are processed by calendar month to ensure even distribution. Places are allocated after the month is over. Month is divided into thirds with an even number of girls being selected from each third. Names are then added to a waiting list. If a definite place is given, then a tour is arranged with the headmaster. |

Occasional places may come up in different years. A child must be registered two years prior to the year of entry. Open days are offered in the Spring and Summer to parents of children who are registered. Applications can be downloaded for a specified two week period in September from the website. A guarantee is given that each child who hands in the application within this two week period will be assessed. The assessment is in two parts. The first stage is held in November of the year preceding entry. Approximately half the children are invited back in small groups for a second round in January. References must be provided at this point. Places are offered in February and parents are given a deadline to accept. |

Early registration is absolutely key. Parents are known to leave from the delivery room to the school office to hand in the forms within minutes of the birth. Parents are also able to register via telephone, email or post. Postal registrations are taken according to the post date on the envelope. Children who are allocated definite places are invited to the school to meet the headmaster and tour the school. Confirmed registration forms are handed out at this stage. Registration forms must be handed in as soon as possible together with a £150 registration fee. Definite places are not allocated until the parents have met the Headmaster. The school operates an Alumni and sibling policy and the boys who are connected to the school either as a son of an alumni or as a sibling will be given a definite place. |
